Anedossa Santorini’s Magic Fog
Santorini’s magical phenomenon
Anedossa is a local natural phenomenon which is generated by the temperature difference between the volcano and Santorini island, especially when west winds are blowing. It looks like fog or smoke rises abruptly from the caldera spreading onto the rest of the island and then dissolves. If you are lucky you will experience this unique phenomenon during your stay at Esperas Hotel.
Because of the lack of rain at Santorini, anedossa is beneficial for the island, as it provides the necessary humidity to the vines which produce the marvelous Santorinian wine. Besides being extremely useful, this local phenomenon is also very fascinating, almost sacred. When this white fog, like a group of hasty little clouds, is climbing up the island it seems like playful, cute, little spirits have came to the island to play. And when the white fog has spread around the island and sat down, you understand that the whole nature has silenced. Most probably, because, nature welcomes the beneficial touch of anedossa. Dedicate, only a few minutes of your time to observe this unique natural phenomenon. Walk around while having the fog at your feet, around your ankles. You will feel as if you are walking on the clouds of a magical kingdom. Which is not so far from reality! Santorini is a magical kingdom.
